[Bug 230680] New: Intel PRO/Wireless 2200BG fails to stay in Monitor mode
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=230680 Summary: Intel PRO/Wireless 2200BG fails to stay in Monitor mode Product: openSUSE 10.2 Version: Final Platform: i686 OS/Version: Linux Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Network AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: karl1c@hotmail.com QAContact: qa@suse.de On Toshiba M300 (see: http://uk.computers.toshiba-europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/jsp/productPage.do?service=UK&PRODUCT_ID=100936) Intel PRO/Wireless 2200BG can be put into monitor mode with ipwconfig eth1 mode Monitor (run as root), but almost immediately reverts to Managed mode. I have built the latest driver from http://ipw2200.sourceforge.net and the latest ieee80211 from sourceforge, but the problem persists. I have tried using traditional ifup rather than networkmanager, but the problem persists. If I run kismet (see: http://www.kismetwireless.net/) the card will SOMETIMES stay in monitor mode, but kismet has to be started and stopped a random number of times before it will "stick" in monitor mode. To reproduce: start konsole; su (+password); iwconfig ethNO_OF_INTERFACE mode Monitor; iwconfig; iwconfig The first iwconfig will show Monitor, but by the second iwconfig card will have reverted to Managed. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
