I recently updated from OpenSuSE 11.0 to 11.1 on my Acer Travemate 8100 and now I have the following problem. If I am connected to my router (Thomson cable router) with wifi (ipw2200) I can not connect to certain web-servers. If I connect with my LAN-cable attached, everything is ok. If I use a D-link wifi router everything is ok as well. Also, the packets seem not to come from www.opensuse.org. Could you try to install an older kernel onto the machine? 11.0 kernel can still be grabbed from ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/projects/kernel/kotd/SL110_BRANCH/i386/kernel-pae.rpm, install it using rpm -i --oldpackage kernel-pae.rpm (this will cause the 11.0 kernel to be installed alongside the 11.1 one). Please note that that will make the new kernel the default boot option, you can change it by editing /boot/grub/menu.lst. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Then I was wondering if stopped working after changing to 11.1 due to something else. I checked the router firmware number and saw that there might have been a firmware update just when I updated to 11.1. I called the cable company and they confirmed that. They also told me that on very few routers people observed similar problems as I have, and suggested to reset the router to factory default. I did that and now it is working again! I think it was clearly a router issue. Windows might be more fault tolerable in that case. But before the reset I also discovered by accident how to get win xp into the same issue. The router has an WMM option which is on. Turn it off and Windows could not connect to the same IPs. For Linux however nothing changed.
