Have to mount the usb stick by myself. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Insert usb stick Actual Results: Nothing. But this is not the problem which is : No device notifier popup. Which desktop environment are you using? : KDE 4.9.90 What does /var/log/messages contain when inserting the usb stick? : /var/log/messages is empty. I have no /var/log/localmessages.

I believe the default is to have this switched off. With regards to not seeing an inserted USB stick, did you tried to use another USB port ? I had similar issues, which seemed more Kernel related and other USB ports were working fine. (laptop docked). Please check with dmesg before and directly after you insert the usb stick. If it shows that an USB stick has been inserted, then device notifier should act on this.
