Affects me still in openSUSE 12.2 with all Updates installed.
Works fine with me using yast (Packman-repo). -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

This was haunting me for a long time, and though we should never see a segfault, rather an error message, and refusal of doing what ever is ongoing - BUT - in the end (as far as i remember) it was a rather a forcefull reinstall of all packages, that made things work for me rather than a patch in yast. If you look here: https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=767107 comment 15
There was no comment 15!
I think it is Beta2 that screws up for all future when upgrading. In your place I would do a yast2 package all packages update unconditionally
^ Here I could not find 'update unconditionally' I am using Gnome and XFCE. Perhaps yast-gtk (or whatever gnome yast thing is called) is missing that option, bu could not manage via GUI. So went for the yast curses route described below.
and if it also segfaults, do it from yast curses yast software management press enter in search phrase actions all listed packages update all unconditionally If this solves your prob, then it was something in Beta 2 that is solved now. I never had if after on 12.2FCS or later.
I followed all the steps, and went to bed as the thing was taking a long time. Woke up, all seemed to go fine (no error messages). Tried a couple of things (like removing some (not all) KDE packages described in my previous post). It worked. Or so it seemed. Later, I decided to give it another go. I wanted to upgrade libreoffice from 3.5.x.y to 3.5.z.t. Having checked update, and clicked apply, yast warned about changing vendor. I clicked OK. And voila. Another error message, with a different segmentation number. I gave up. Possibly I will reinstall the whole thing from scratch. If it still give the same error, will come back with more details. Thanks anyways -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
