After restarting the KDE4 session, these plasma applets sometimes loose their orientation and go back to vertical. In the second screenshot (attached to comment #2), one can see that the postit has turned to vertical. This happens for the comic and the picture frame as well. Although it seems to be difficult to predict when this will happen.
