FWICT https://github.com/qemu/qemu/commit/6e1c0d7b951e19c53b8467e8bc4b71ee73a394ea made them obsolete, however the upstream feature is not enabled by default. If it's desired to stay compatible there you might want to add a patch which enables that by default (IMO upstreamable). It's also available with kernel 5.12+ only, but that shouldn't be an issue for TW and 15.4+.
I think the test package doesn't preserve argv0 by default, but I'm not entirely sure because the link is broken. BTW: I highly recommend to avoid conditional patches.
