Looks like kwin failed to start/crashed. /usr/bin/kwin_x11 is running Did you reboot after the last update? yes Does it work on a fresh user account? yes
Ok, so it's not a general problem.
What happens if you run kwin_x11 in konsole inside the running user session? I.e. what output do you get? kwin: unable to claim manager selection, another wm running? (try using --replace)
That means that kwin was already running... Did you try that on the new account? I actually wanted to see the output from the session where it was failing to start.
What displaymanager are you using? I have no changed anything. I don't know.
So let's assume it's sddm. I only asked because I noticed a problem with kdm in Plasma 5.19.5 (a fix for that is pending). But then kwin should still start anyway...
I've rename the home directory and created a new one. Now it is working again. Any idea what files should I compare to find out what happened? ~/.config/kwinrc would be the first thing I'd imagine.
Could you please try to move everything back except this one please? -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

< OpenGLIsUnsafe=true ---
OpenGLIsUnsafe=false
I'd assume this one is the "culprit". Can you confirm? But if that's the case, it would rather point to a graphics driver problem, I think. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

Yes that is correct: It works fine with OpenGLIsUnsafe=false. I am using the nouveau graphics device driver.
Do you have Mesa-dri-nouveau installed? If everything works with OpenGLIsUnsafe=false, then you should be fine though. This should only get set to true if kwin crashed for some reason (and it means that it won't try to use OpenGL anymore). Strange that it would crash if it is true though. Can you still reproduce the crash if you set it back to true? If yes, please post the output in konsole (as already asked), and/or the crash backtrace (you should get a crash dialog if it crashes). -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

Do you have Mesa-dri-nouveau installed? No, it is locked because it doesn't support my graphics card: VGA compatible controller: NVIDIA Corporation NV5 [Vanta / Vanta LT] (rev 15)
kwin_x11 is just running fine. If I kill it and restart it in a console window, I'll get the follwing messages: $ kwin_x11 qt.qpa.xcb: QXcbConnection: XCB error: 3 (BadWindow), sequence: 180, resource id: 62914567, major code: 20 (GetProperty), minor code: 0 qt.qpa.xcb: QXcbConnection: XCB error: 3 (BadWindow), sequence: 181, resource id: 62914567, major code: 20 (GetProperty), minor code: 0 kwin_core: Compositing is not possible qt.qpa.xcb: QXcbConnection: XCB error: 16 (BadLength), sequence: 1359, resource id: 62914583, major code: 72 (PutImage), minor code: 0 qt.qpa.xcb: QXcbConnection: XCB error: 16 (BadLength), sequence: 1361, resource id: 62914584, major code: 72 (PutImage), minor code: 0 qt.qpa.xcb: QXcbConnection: XCB error: 16 (BadLength), sequence: 1363, resource id: 62914585, major code: 72 (PutImage), minor code: 0 qt.qpa.xcb: QXcbConnection: XCB error: 16 (BadLength), sequence: 1368, resource id: 62914585, major code: 72 (PutImage), minor code: 0 qt.qpa.xcb: QXcbConnection: XCB error: 16 (BadLength), sequence: 1369, resource id: 62914585, major code: 72 (PutImage), minor code: 0 qt.qpa.xcb: QXcbConnection: XCB error: 16 (BadLength), sequence: 1370, resource id: 62914585, major code: 72 (PutImage), minor code: 0 qt.qpa.xcb: QXcbConnection: XCB error: 16 (BadLength), sequence: 1371, resource id: 62914585, major code: 72 (PutImage), minor code: 0 qt.qpa.xcb: QXcbConnection: XCB error: 16 (BadLength), sequence: 1372, resource id: 62914585, major code: 72 (PutImage), minor code: 0 qt.qpa.xcb: QXcbConnection: XCB error: 16 (BadLength), sequence: 1373, resource id: 62914585, major code: 72 (PutImage), minor code: 0 -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
