[Bug 1206224] New: Dell notebook drains battery during sleep
https://bugzilla.suse.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1206224 Bug ID: 1206224 Summary: Dell notebook drains battery during sleep Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Distribution Version: Leap 15.4 Hardware: Other OS: Other Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: Other Assignee: screening-team-bugs@suse.de Reporter: msvec@suse.com QA Contact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- Just got Dell Latitude 7430 and it drains battery when in sleep, if I leave it overnight, the battery is almost empty. Some people have reported switching from RAID to AHCI in BIOS helped, for me it didn't change the situation much (if at all). The reason might be a lack of deep sleep support in the firmware, but I wonder if there are any other workarounds/fixes we can do to prevent the battery drain. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

Right, and now most device drivers are behaving politely :) As it seems working, let's close now. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

So just grabbing 5.15 won't fix everything magically, unfortunately. That makes difficult for the backports. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

Even a single driver that doesn't support the runtime PM properly may block the transition. In anyway, it'd be worth to check the behavior with SLE15-SP5 kernel. Meanwhile, I tried to backport the patches for s2idle ACPI code on Leap 15.4 kernel. The test kernel is being built in OBS home:tiwai:bsc1206224 repo. Could you give it a try later, too? Leap 15.5 kernel is not Leap 15.4 kernel. Please make sure that you've tested with the right kernel. At best, check the latest build from OBS Kernel:SLE15-SP5 repo. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
