Technically a package claims to be an update candidate (or successor) for an older package by obsoleting it. Whether this also implies the end-of-life of the obsoleted package is something can not be judged. We have cases whet the old package ends as well as cases where the old package continues to receive updates. And some packages even abuse obsoletes to perform silent wipes rather than using a conflicts between packages that can not co-exist. So there might be a benefit in visually tagging obsoleted packages and offering an easy way to see the obsoleting package(s) - the ones claiming to be a better choice. It would also help to identify packages abusing the obsoletes. (https://github.com/openSUSE/libzypp/blob/master/zypp/sat/WhatObsoletes.h) But i would not try to apply or enforce a general rule like 'an obsoleted can be taboo-ed'. Back to YAST to decide whether such a tagging could be done. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
