Logging in again resulted in the same behavior (Size & Orientation settings not saved) as with shutdown/booting-in as reported in the original 757273 bug report. Please let me know what info you need to tackle this problem Regards, Frans -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

It started only to work after saving the modified display settings in a special way. The Size & Orientation is misleading, apparently when clicking on apply and confirming settings. Those settings are simply temporary for the session, you must go ahead and click 'Save as Default' to insure the current settings are saved to file. As the comment from KDE bug mentioned, Help is grayed out (disabled) with no additional information explaining this subtle difference. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

After a lot of trials and with the help of Lutchy comment 7, I was finally able to get the "system settings / display and monitor / seize & orientation" settings" saved. This time the following steps resulted in the saving of the "seize & orientation" settings. 1 Make the settings as needed. 2 Click "apply" button and accept/confirm the settings in the pop-up window. 3 Click "save as default" button and accept the change via pop-up window. So this is just the same sequence as Lutchy described. Clicking on "Apply" corerctly applies the changes, but then clicking on "Save as default" doesn't save them persistently; the settings are lost for the next login. However, yesterday I upgraded to KDE 4.11.1 and now the display settings are correctly applied on login. However, the process is a bit annoying in that immediately after logging in, the display settings are incorrect (that is, the relative position of my two monitors is wrong). It's only after several seconds (and after several applications already get loaded, and display in the wrong places) that the orientation gets switched to my preferred settings. So it's still buggy, but much less buggy than before. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

The problem was still reproducible for me on KDE 4.10.3, 4.10.4, and 4.10.5. However, yesterday I upgraded to KDE 4.11.1 and now the display settings are correctly applied on login. However, the process is a bit annoying in that immediately after logging in, the display settings are incorrect (that is, the relative position of my two monitors is wrong). So it's still buggy, but much less buggy than before.
I recently upgraded to KDE 4.11.1 (using KScreen 1.0.71) and now the display settings seem to get applied much sooner in the login process -- before any other applications get loaded, in fact. So lately I haven't been able to reproduce this problem. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
