[Bug 472861] 11.1 fails to hibernate if kernel serial port (rs232) logging is active
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=472861 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=472861#c29 --- Comment #29 from Carlos Robinson <carlos.e.r@opensuse.org> 2010-11-07 04:35:31 UTC --- Created an attachment (id=398896) --> (http://bugzilla.novell.com/attachment.cgi?id=398896) Message log file, several attempts, some good, some bad. This is the message log, the part of this day. Several attempts, and some changes: I added a boot.local and a halt.local script that writes a message to the log to see where exactly I'm booting or halting, and a /etc/pm/sleep.d/4_things logging when hibernation starts and when it thaws. You will see the lines in the log. You will find also several kernel log entries that should interest you. One in particular: Nov 7 03:23:43 Elanor ifplugd(eth0)[4796]: client: RTNETLINK answers: Cannot allocate memory Nov 7 03:23:43 Elanor ifplugd(eth0)[4796]: client: Cannot enable interface eth0. Nov 7 03:23:43 Elanor ifup: Cannot enable interface eth0. Nov 7 03:23:43 Elanor ifplugd(eth0)[4796]: client: interface eth0 is not up So that's why network failed. And then, you have all those kernel traces to investigate, and discover why serial port logging impedes hibernation. Remember that I tried this time ago in real hardware - I'm using virtualized hardware for this retesting because it is so much easier to do, and even so, I have spent more six hours or more in doing this test. I hope you give it proper consideration. It is now 5:34 AM, I'm tired. If there is any mistake, blame my tiredness. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
