How did that happen, how and what build did you install? Why is there no output of gvfs-mount -oi although gvfs-mount -li shows a CD was mounted, did you start it before inserting the CD and let it run? Did you do the same with the flash media? In any case can you start the following commands (in different terminals) before inserting the flash drive and post back their output here? gvfs-mount -oi udisks --monitor-detail with root privileges: udevadm monitor --udev --property That should shed some more light on what happens in the stack between kernel and thunar. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=723051 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=723051#c2 --- Comment #2 from Kyrill Detinov <lazy.kent@opensuse.org> 2011-10-10 22:05:46 MSD --- (In reply to comment #1)
So you were saying that gvfs was not installed? How did that happen, how and what build did you install?
I have KDE3 installed before. Then removed it and installed XFCE packages from openSUSE:Factory ropository. As far as I can see, XFCE doesn't require gvfs: % rpm -q --whatrequires gvfs libgvfscommon0-1.10.0-1.1.x86_64 gvfs-lang-1.10.0-1.1.noarch
Why is there no output of gvfs-mount -oi although gvfs-mount -li shows a CD was mounted, did you start it before inserting the CD and let it run? Did you do the same with the flash media?
I don't know why there is no output. First I run 'gvfs-mount -oi', then insert flash-drive and CD.
In any case can you start the following commands (in different terminals) before inserting the flash drive and post back their output here?
gvfs-mount -oi udisks --monitor-detail with root privileges: udevadm monitor --udev --property

thunar-volman: Could not detect the volume corresponding to the device.
This would potentially be fatal, it means that after detecting a new block device thunar-volman goes through the list of GVolumes provided by g_volume_monitor_get_volumes() and cannot find the GVolume corresponding to the Unix device file which triggered this event (this was also from an earlier email exchange and doesn't correspond to the diagnostics in comment #2).

So you were saying that gvfs was not installed? How did that happen, how and what build did you install?
I have KDE3 installed before. Then removed it and installed XFCE packages from openSUSE:Factory ropository. As far as I can see, XFCE doesn't require gvfs:
% rpm -q --whatrequires gvfs libgvfscommon0-1.10.0-1.1.x86_64 gvfs-lang-1.10.0-1.1.noarch
gvfs is recommended by libgtk-2_0-0 which is a dependency of about almost every Xfce package (it shouldn't be a hard dependency because it isn't strictly required) so it should have been pulled in. Strictly speaking, the Recommends for gvfs-backends is right as you don't necessarily need the backends :-)
