[Bug 724399] New: Impossible to choose the right monitor resolution
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=724399 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=724399#c0 Summary: Impossible to choose the right monitor resolution Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.4 Version: Final Platform: Other OS/Version: openSUSE 11.4 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: X.Org AssignedTo: bnc-team-xorg-bugs@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: sommerluk@gmail.com QAContact: xorg-maintainer-bugs@forge.provo.novell.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux i686; rv:7.0.1) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/7.0.1 Impossible to choose the right monitor resolution. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: Do a fresh installation of vanilla openSUSE 11.4 from DVD (32 bit) and with KDE as desktop at my computer. Actual Results: 1.) The monitor resolution is at 1024x768. That looks very ugly because the monitor has a resolution of 1440x900. 2.) In KDE/systemsettings I can only choose 1024x768 and smaller resolutions. I can't choose 1440x900 which would be the good resolution. Expected Results: 1.) The resolution is set automatically to 1440x900. 2.) In KDE/systemsettings I can choose 1440x900. The graphic card is able to produce this resolution - with MS Windows the very same graphic card and monitor work fine. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

According to the logfile the right resolution is chosen.
Well, now, after editing manually the config files, the right resolution is chosen. But before, it wasn't working. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Fresh installation openSUSE 11.4 (KDE Live CD 64 Bit). It works now out of the box. Maybe a problem of the gfxcard? As it is now working (and as I wil through away the old PC), I'll close this issue. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
