https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=675429 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=675429#c0 Summary: KDE Networking does not show up in Systemsettings Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.4 Version: RC 2 Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: SuSE Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: KDE4 Workspace AssignedTo: kde-maintainers@suse.de ReportedBy: o.siess@inode.at QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; de; rv:1.9.2.13) Gecko/20101203 SUSE/3.6.13-0.2.1 Firefox/3.6.13 I used until now opensuse 11.2. I have there the package kdenetworking4-filesharing installed. With this package i can configure my samba server over a gui in kde system settings. In 11.4 RC2 (and also in 11.3) this icon is missing to configure samba over the kde gui. The command to launch the gui is: kcmshell4 kcmsambaconf But when i use this command in 11.4 or in 11.3 i get an error! kcmshell(11590): Session bus not found To circumvent this problem try the following command (with Linux and bash) export $(dbus-launch) KCrash: Application 'kcmshell4' crashing... KCrash: Attempting to start /usr/lib64/kde4/libexec/drkonqi from kdeinit sock_file=/root/.kde4/socket-linux-server/kdeinit4__0 [1]+ Angehalten kcmshell4 kcmsambaconf Also when exporting i get no gui! # export kcmshell4 kcmsambaconf [1]+ Exit 253 kcmshell4 kcmsambaconf Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Install kdenetwork4-filesharing on opensuse 11.2 an look in systemsettings for samba! 2. Install kdenetwork4-filesharing on opensuse 11.3 or 11.4 RC2 and you will not find the samba icon in systemsettings. 3. Actual Results: It is not possible to launch the kde samba module in a konsole nor with kdesu! In all packiges (11.2 , 11.3 and 11.4 RC2) there are the same files. Expected Results: It should be again possible to configure samba with the kde gui! -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=675429 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=675429#c1 --- Comment #1 from Olivier xxx <o.siess@inode.at> 2011-03-02 18:16:19 UTC --- hello! I managed to figure a workaround out! Here it comes: 1. Go into /usr/share/kde4/services 2. Open kcmsambaconf.desktop 3. delete following line: Hidden=true 4. Then the SAMBA configuration tool will show up in KDE systemsettings! 5. But you can´t edit the configuration files, because the gui is not startet as root. 6. So you need to start the KDE Samba Gui with the following command: kdesu kcmshell4 kcmsambaconf -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
