[Bug 215576] New: Strange menu shortcut for Datei - Öffnen and shortcut conflict (german)
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=215576 Summary: Strange menu shortcut for Datei - Öffnen and shortcut conflict (german) Product: SUSE Linux 10.1 Version: Final Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Minor Priority: P5 - None Component: Firefox AssignedTo: bnc-team-mozilla@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: suse-beta@cboltz.de QAContact: qa@suse.de With german language settings, Firefox uses the Menu shortcut Alt - D - Ö for both "_D_atei - Datei _ö_ffnen" and "_D_atei - Adresse _ö_ffnen". I recommend to change the Menu shortcut for "Datei öffnen" to Alt - D - F because a) this is the usual menu shortcut in nearly all applications and b) it will solve the shortcut conflict also -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=215576 ------- Comment #1 from andreas.hanke@gmx-topmail.de 2006-10-26 17:58 MST ------- I recommend either not changing anything at all or changing it to be as in Firefox 2.0. Firefox 2.0 has: _D_atei -> Datei _ö_ffnen _D_atei -> _A_dresse öffnen Doing otherwise would introduce either an inconsistency between the 1.5 and 2.0 packages (if you're changing 1.5 and leaving 2.0 alone) or an unnecessary deviation from upstream behaviour (if you're changing 2.0 as well, which is unnecessary, because 2.0 does not have a shortcut conflict). A "backport" of the corrected 2.0 behaviour is certainly less annoying than another SUSE/Novell-specific invention. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

Yes, using it is the better way, even if it uses non-common keys ;-) VERIFIED in MozillaFirefox-2.0.0.10-0.1 on openSUSE 10.3 However, it's unfortune that Alt-D-F (the usual keyboard shortcut for Datei - Öffnen) is used for "Fenster schließen" (close window). I'll open a new bugreport because the F is not even underlined in the menu... -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
