[Bug 392853] New: option ieee80211_regdom=64 missing
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=392853 Summary: option ieee80211_regdom=64 missing Product: openSUSE 11.0 Version: Beta 3 Platform: i586 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.0 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Network AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: markus.walser@gmail.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Hi My setup is: * AP on channel 13 with WPA and PSK. * Managed Notebook with OpenSuSE 11.0 with BCM4318 [AirForce One 54g] 802.11g Wireless LAN Controller (rev 02). The problem: After installing the required firmware v4, I got messages like: wlan0: authentication with AP 00:18:39:c9:87:74 timed out Solution: The wireless network started working after adding "options mac80211 ieee80211_regdom=64" to /etc/modprobe.conf.local in order to use the European channel 12/13. (See also http://www.mail-archive.com/bcm43xx-dev@lists.berlios.de/msg05736.html) I there a way Yast could do a such entry itself? Maybe depending on the timezome location? -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Do you think that is feasible? Everything is possible ;-)
Is that general for all wlan drivers, or just for this one? What is "64"? Is there some map (locale->region_number)? -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Newer versions (2.6.26) accept a string representing the region (currently US, EU or JP). -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
