[Bug 465606] New: Recurrent knotify crash in KDE3 on 11.0
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=465606 Summary: Recurrent knotify crash in KDE3 on 11.0 Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.0 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.0 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: KDE3 AssignedTo: kde-maintainers@suse.de ReportedBy: drankinatty@suddenlinkmail.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; en-US; rv:1.9.0.5) Gecko/2008121300 SUSE/3.0.5-0.1 Firefox/3.0.5 Devs, For the past month or so, I have received recurrent knotify crashes. If I work for an hour I will experience 3-6 crashes. When knotify crashes, you get the normal backtrace dialog. At first there was no useful information so I installed the -devel packages. Now I get backtrace data on roughly every 1 out of 3 crashes. The crashes seem to be occurring most often when running other kde3 apps like kate or quanta, etc. Quite annoying really. The past two backtraces I have saved are: System configuration startup check disabled. () I don't know how to read backtraces, so I'm sorry I can't be of more help. Let me know if I can provide anything else. Thanks. Reproducible: Sometimes Steps to Reproduce: 1. Just work with kde apps for a little while 2. See Details above for more --- well details 3. Actual Results: knotify backtrace dialog appears Expected Results: I wish it would stay hidden That's it. P.S. Why does bugzilla ask me for the operating system twice? The first page asks me to select the openSuSE version and then the type of release (beta, rc1, final, etc.) When I go to this page, it asks me for the operating system again -- also quite annoying. Can't this be fixed with a post or get call or session cookie or something?? -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

I am providing the additional files for your review. The happen primarily with kde editing applications like kate, kwrite and quanta. They are annoying, (but not nearly as annoying as whatever is causing the 2-3 line window scroll problem). None of the valgrind logs contains any information about a crash. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
