https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=661419 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=661419#c0 Summary: Subprocess Failed: Error: RPM failed: error: %pre(kernel-default-2.6.34-12.3(586) scriptlet failed, exit status 127 Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.3 Version: Final Platform: i686 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.3 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Installation AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: woa46@yahoo.com QAContact: jsrain@novell.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; en-US; rv:1.9.2.13) Gecko/20101203 SUSE/3.6.13-0.2.1 Firefox/3.6.13 On performing an installation of 32bit OpenSuse 11.3, encountered the following message Subprocess Failed: Error: RPM failed: error: %pre(kernel-default-2.6.34-12.3(586) scriptlet failed, exit status 127 error install %pre scriptlet failed (2). skipping kernel-default-2.6.34-12.3 This happened on many of the components most were silently skipped, others posted a dialog box that allowed you to ignore, retry, or abort. I was installing onto an ext4 file system. Need to find out what that exit status means. Will get back to you with more hardware details. I ran a media check on my dvd and it came up error free. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Don't know if you can reproduce it - it didn't happen on any other of my 32bit installs. 2.Run a 32 bit 11.3 install and the problem will occur during the installation step. 3. Actual Results: If you ignore all the errors, you will get a system that won't boot because the boot loader wasn't installed. Expected Results: A bootable system. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

My first guess would have been a broken DVD, but you write that you checked it. Did you run the media check on the same computer where the installation failed? If not, please do so (the DVD drive might be broken/whatever). If that doesn't bring up a result, please attach the y2logs as described at http://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Report_a_YaST_bug Since the system isn't bootable, you can just put /var/log in a tarball. Whatever way you choose, please attach the logs to this bugreport. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
