Now call Yast's install-software module and try to install some packages. Next, an error dialog will show up, which asks where to search for the openSUSE media - with the URL cd:///?devices=/dev/sr0,/dev/sr1 (when selecting 'Show details'). Inserting the openSUSE DVD 1 into the second drive and selecting 'Retry' will show the same dialog again, without finding the new media. (KDE meanwhile shows that there is one) Seems to be that the installer checks only the first media and rejects. If the openSUSE DVD in the second drive is the only media, all works fine. hwinfo --cdrom 30: SCSI 100.0: 10602 CD-ROM (DVD) [Created at block.237] UDI: /org/freedesktop/Hal/devices/storage_model_XJ_HD166S Unique ID: twPO.Dm0PS3UVp62 Parent ID: qnJ_.os+qg5s0h31 SysFS ID: /block/sr0 SysFS BusID: 1:0:0:0 SysFS Device Link: /devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:0d.0/host1/target1:0:0/1:0:0:0 Hardware Class: cdrom Model: "JLMS XJ-HD166S" Vendor: "JLMS" Device: "XJ-HD166S" Revision: "DS1A" Driver: "pata_amd", "sr" Driver Modules: "pata_amd" Device File: /dev/sr0 (/dev/sg2) Device Files: /dev/sr0, /dev/scd0, /dev/disk/by-path/pci-0000:00:0d.0-scsi-1:0:0:0, /dev/cdrom1, /dev/dvd1 Device Number: block 11:0 (char 21:2) Features: DVD Config Status: cfg=no, avail=yes, need=no, active=unknown Attached to: #16 (IDE interface) Drive Speed: 48 Volume ID: "CDROOT" Creation date: "1899123000000000" 31: SCSI 200.0: 10602 CD-ROM (DVD) [Created at block.237] UDI: /org/freedesktop/Hal/devices/storage_model_CDDVDW_SH_S203N Unique ID: K6gS.L9GcnrcCk21 Parent ID: vuMS.EL8lsIvjUsD SysFS ID: /block/sr1 SysFS BusID: 2:0:0:0 SysFS Device Link: /devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:0e.0/host2/target2:0:0/2:0:0:0 Hardware Class: cdrom Model: "TSSTcorp CDDVDW SH-S203N" Vendor: "TSSTcorp" Device: "CDDVDW SH-S203N" Revision: "SB01" Driver: "sata_nv", "sr" Driver Modules: "sata_nv" Device File: /dev/sr1 (/dev/sg3) Device Files: /dev/sr1, /dev/scd1, /dev/disk/by-path/pci-0000:00:0e.0-scsi-0:0:0:0, /dev/cdrom, /dev/cdrw, /dev/dvd, /dev/dvdrw Device Number: block 11:1 (char 21:3) Features: CD-R, CD-RW, DVD, DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD+R, DVD+RW, DVD+DL, DVDRAM Config Status: cfg=no, avail=yes, need=no, active=unknown Attached to: #17 (IDE interface) Drive Speed: 48 Volume ID: "SU1030.001" Application: "openSUSE-10.3-retail-10.3#0" Publisher: "Novell, Inc." Please can you write exact step to reproduce? Sure, here it is: Situation: Fresh installed system, KDE4 desktop, ready for work with.
Start up YaST2 in KDE4. Then select 'Software Management'. Next, enter the name to install a arbitrary software package in the 'Search' field (e.g. chromium ) and type the '+' key to select the package. At this point, there has to be one arbitrary CD/DVD (except the installation media) in the first optical drive. Then click on 'Accept'. The summary of the installation process comes up and a messagebox with 'Insert '(Disc 1)' and two checkboxes appears. If I select the checkbox 'Show details' here, the info 'URL \n cd://?devices=/dev/sr1,/dev/sr0 ' and a textbox with 'INVALID' shows up. Now I insert the openSUSE media 'SU110Bet.001' and click on 'Retry' (KDE 4 shows that the media is present). As a result both drives spin up and the same messagebox with the request to insert the disc pops up again, until I select 'Abort' If I go through this procedure without having a media in the first drive, the openSUSE media is recognized at once, and 'Retry' starts the software installation.
Do you add this CD during install or on installed system? The system was installed with this DVD, and it is inserted after Yast ask for it.
