[Bug 770701] New: Synaptics Clickpad: Cannot move cursor while "left button" is pressed (breaks drag and drop/text highlighting)
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=770701 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=770701#c0 Summary: Synaptics Clickpad: Cannot move cursor while "left button" is pressed (breaks drag and drop/text highlighting) Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 12.1 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 12.1 Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: X.Org AssignedTo: bnc-team-xorg-bugs@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: foolishewe@hotmail.com QAContact: xorg-maintainer-bugs@forge.provo.novell.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- Created an attachment (id=498013) --> (http://bugzilla.novell.com/attachment.cgi?id=498013) X.org startup log User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:13.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/13.0 On my Toshiba P855-S5200, I have a synaptics clickpad that works well under windows 7 but has problems under OpenSUSE Current (Tumbleweed). The clickpad seems to be correctly detected, as per the attached /var/log/X.org.0.log. Are there some X or kde settings that I should look at or adjust to address this?\ As per Bug 768506, enabling/disabling the touchpad is problematic (fn + F5 or tapping on the led region tends to disable the clickpad, but enabling it is hard). Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Run opensuse 12.1 with Tumbleweed updates with synaptics clickpad 2. Log in to KDE and try to drag and drop any window or highlight text by holding down left-button and moving mouse cursor 3. Actual Results: Mouse cursor does not move. Expected Results: Mouse cursor should move to support drag and drop or text highlighting. I agonized over the severity, but the broken drag and drop/text selection with the clickpad makes the laptop nearly unusable without an external mouse. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Hello Stefan:
Although this is not resolved in 12.1 tumbleweed, 12.2 RC1 has improved left click functionality, but lacks right/middle click functionality (out of the box). Please be aware that I've opened Bug 772517 to track that issue.
