https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=271584 ------- Comment #2 from bluedzins@wp.pl 2007-05-07 02:59 MST ------- Stefan, you mean, that user could click on the icon, the window would pop up, some kind of power manager would kick in (via closing the laptop, or via screen saver), then user would like to wake up the system, so she/he would move a mouse, and then the passive window could gone? Yes, that's true -- but are there more benetifs? I.e. this window is too simplistic to make it full normal window, you have to close explicitly (imho).
From my experience I like to check the battery stats and CPU speed _fast_, without moving mouse too much. Just quick peek and that's it.

The information dialog you get if you click on the KPowersave icon with the left mouse button? If so: I don't want change this. A passive window is not what the most users want. You can use this window to monitor your power consumtion or CPU usage and you don't want get the window closed if you click somewhere or if you use the mouse. Btw. You can also close the dialog by press ESC. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

The information dialog you get if you click on the KPowersave icon with the left mouse button?
Yes :-)
You can use this window to monitor your power consumtion or CPU usage and you don't want get the window closed if you click somewhere or if you use the mouse.
So there are two needs and I think they are both ok -- constant monitoring, and quick peek. Could you please provide an option to control the mode (not even GUI)? I don't know how many people constantly monitor status, but I can tell what I can observe on other laptops (and mine) it is 100% uncommon. I.e. I have never seen this, that somebody would monitor all the time CPU speed.
You can also close the dialog by press ESC.
Yes, but here is usability issue -- you don't switch the control medium, i.e. it is bad to forcing constant switching from keyboard/mouse/whatever back and forth. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

If you only want see the dialog a short time you can click with left mouse button on the KPowersave icon. If you want to close the dialog directly you have more than one options: * click again with left mouse button on the icon * press ESC * press ENTER * close via mouse on [X] or 'Okay' button For me there is no need to change this to a passive dialog and I don't want change the code to do both (IMO it's not that easy and would only blowup the code and make it more complicated than needed). -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

* click again with left mouse button on the icon
this I have to agree with you. Thank for the tip Danny. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
