Upstream always has had the issue. Unfortunately printing has changed a lot with FF3 and basically it didn't get really better (just incorporating Gnome print dialog makes that issue not go away :-() With FF2 we checked for every printer what the default paper size is and used that if not changed. With FF3 the printer selection and paper size setting is somewhat decoupled that from a UI perspective the above approach can't be taken easily perhaps.
