[Bug 207596] New: Canot add installtion sources
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=207596 Summary: Canot add installtion sources Product: SUSE Linux 10.1 Version: Final Platform: i586 OS/Version: SuSE Linux 10.1 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: YaST2 AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: djmills@netspace.net.au QAContact: jsrain@novell.com I am unable to online update or zen update. If I attempt "zen-updater" I get the icon. Clicking it brings up a window called Software Updater. Which sits there for a long time with the message "Getting update list..." before the pop-up with the message "System.MissingMethodException: Method not found: 'Novell.Zenworks.Zmd.Packaging.Public.IPackageManager.GetPatternUpdates'. in <0x00000> <unknown method> in <0x00100> Novell.Zenworks.Gui.MultiContent:get_Updates () in <0x0001c> Novell.Zenworks.Gui.UpdaterWindow:GetContent () in (wrapper delegate-invoke) System.MulticastDelegate:invoke_ContentInfo[] () in <0x0003a> Novell.Zenworks.Gui.ContentGrabber:PullContent () in <0x00049> Novell.Zenworks.Gui.ContentGrabber:RetryLoop () in (wrapper delegate-invoke) System.MulticastDelegate:invoke_void ()" appears. I have attempted to add an update location as an "Installation source (e.g. ftp.planetmirror.com/pub/linux/suse/suse/ but I get the message Unable to create installation source from URL "ftp://ftp.planetmirror.com/pub/linux/suse/suse/". Try Again? I even tried manually downloading and installing patches to do with yast - but rpm complains of missing dependencies. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=207596 ------- Comment #2 from djmills@netspace.net.au 2006-09-23 17:37 MST ------- I originally reported bug 194672. This is the first chance I have had to follow up on that. I tried the address you suggested. It spent a long time on the message "Adding catalog..." before eventually working about 15 minutes later. Pressing Finish then took at least another 40 minutes before I gave up waiting. While waiting the processes /usr/lib/zmd/zmd.exe and /usr/lib/zmd/parse-metadata were using the most resources. Output from top: 2629 root 34 19 72952 19m 6160 S 5.9 7.8 1:54.91 zmd At about the 30 minute mark another process called update-status started. It used a lot more resources 14460 root 22 0 83596 46m 6072 R 89.6 18.7 0:58.01 update-status It only ran a couple of minutes and then y2base took over. Eventually it finished and online-update started OK. I selected a number of patches but it only installed 3. Then it restarted itself and installed the rest. After completion I tried software-management and online-update. Both now worked. Why does it all take so long. It never did in any version from 6.0 through 9.1,2 & 3 and 10.0. By the way - when I first log in to X-windows a few minutes later a message pops up: System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an obj ect in <0x003d6> Novell.Zenworks.Gui.ZenTrayIcon:CheckUpdatesLoop () in (wrapper delegate-invoke) System.MulticastDelegate:invoke_void () -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=207596 ------- Comment #6 from djmills@netspace.net.au 2006-09-30 01:56 MST ------- I updated libzypp as suggested. I then ran zen-updater and got the following error: ** (SoftwareUpdater:6705): WARNING **: Missing member GetPatternUpdates in type IPackageManager, assembly /usr/lib/mono/gac/Novell.Zenworks.Zmd.Packaging.Public/1.0.0.0__48eafe5f49a143f5/Novell.Zenworks.Zmd.Packaging.Public.dll I then tried zen-installer. It at least ran and let me select a collection of patches to install. But on clicking the install button got the following error: ** (SoftwareInstaller:6712): WARNING **: The class Novell.Zenworks.Zmd.Packaging.Public.ResolvableNotFoundException could not be loaded, used in Novell.Zenworks.Zmd.Packaging.Public, Version=1.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=48eafe5f49a143f5 ================================================================= Got a SIGSEGV while executing native code.
