[Bug 567966] New: Progess time produces strange results

http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=567966 http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=567966#c0 Summary: Progess time produces strange results Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.2 Version: Final Platform: All OS/Version: All Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: YaST2 AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: opensuse@dstoecker.de QAContact: jsrain@novell.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; Konqueror/3.5; Linux) KHTML/3.5.10 (like Gecko) SUSE When yast software installation is running, then in details mode you get installed size, number of packages and remaining time. When this time for one source repository goes above 2 hours, then >2:00:00 is shown. Nevertheless the total amount is still a sum of all packages (i.e. 2:13:12). It should be
2:00:00 as well, as you can't add explicit numbers to a ">xxx".
BTW: I would increase the 2 hours to e.g. 4 hours, as network install with large bandwidth and even a normal large installation may exceed two hours and it is still interesting to see when it ends. I agree that for long times the approximation will be unreliable, but 2 hours is to short. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Looks as if either the line count is wrong and thus the display is at wrong position or the dialog can't handle lots of data. BTW: When changed by hand the display should stay at changed position even if new entries are added at the end. Only when scrolled to end it should again automatically follow new lines (like e.g. konsole under KDE does). -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

It will display >2:00:00 instead of e.g. 2:13:12. However, I decided to keep the 2 hour limit. If it's more than 2 hours the value is very unreliable and can jump between different values quickly depending on the current download and install speed. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
