[Bug 968709] New: Major collision with krita on update
http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=968709 Bug ID: 968709 Summary: Major collision with krita on update Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Tumbleweed Version: 2015* Hardware: x86-64 OS: SUSE Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Other Assignee: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com Reporter: nwr10cst-oslnx@yahoo.com QA Contact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64) AppleWebKit/537.21 (KHTML, like Gecko) konqueror/4.14.17 Safari/537.21 Build Identifier: I ran "zypper dup" on my "krypton" install, to update to 20160228. "Detected 101 file conflicts:" Most of these were conflicts between: calligra-krita-2.9.11-1.1.x86_64 (openSUSE-Factory-Oss) krita-2.99.60git-167.1.x86_64 (KUE) Note that KUE is KDE:/Unstable:/Extra/KDE_Unstable_Frameworks_openSUSE_Factory I do not know why it wanted to install "calligra-krita". I blacklisted that and retried. I still had 3 conflicts. Two of those were between digikam and showfoto, and the other was between krita and kimageformats. I accepted with those 3 conflicts, which I take to be expected with the experimental krypton. Clearly something went wrong with the original conflicts between calligra-krita and krita. Reproducible: Didn't try -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

I do not know why it wanted to install "calligra-krita".
Probably because it is part of the standard installation patterns.
Two of those were between digikam and showfoto,
The KF5 based digikam doesn't contain showfoto, it is in a separate subpackage now. So you probably installed the KDE4 version... What happens when you explicitly install the KF5 version from KDE:Unstable:Extra? Maybe there's some conflict? Unfortunately digikam doesn't build at all at the moment, this would need to be fixed first before any other change is possible.
and the other was between krita and kimageformats.
Probably because the .kra and .ora thumbnailers are now included in kimageformats. But apparently they haven't been removed from krita yet => upstream "bug". We manually could remove them from our package though, and this has already been done some hours ago: https://build.opensuse.org/package/rdiff/KDE:Unstable:Extra/krita?linkrev=base&rev=168 So this problem should not exist any more.
Clearly something went wrong with the original conflicts between calligra-krita and krita.
Yes, there are no conflicts specified at all in the KF5 krita package. They should be added I suppose... -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

Probably because it is part of the standard installation patterns.
Interesting. However, I have a vanilla Tumbleweed (without krypton), and I also updated that this morning. But calligra-krita was not installed there.

That does not seem right. Here is what I saw while running "zypper dup" (under "screen -L"): --- start clipping --- Detected 3 file conflicts: File /usr/bin/showfoto from install of showfoto-4.80git.1456659923.6ae46a0-48.1.x86_64 (KUE) conflicts with file from install of digikam-4.14.0-4.1.x86_64 (openSUSE-Factory-Oss) File /usr/lib64/qt5/plugins/imageformats/kimg_ora.so from install of krita-2.99.60git-167.1.x86_64 (KUE) conflicts with file from package kimageformats-5.20.0git.20160208T214120~baf894b-2.2.x86_64 (@System) File /usr/share/appdata/showfoto.appdata.xml from install of showfoto-4.80git.1456659923.6ae46a0-48.1.x86_64 (KUE) conflicts with file from install of digikam-4.14.0-4.1.x86_64 (openSUSE-Factory-Oss) --- end clipping I guess the digikam is probably from KDE4. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

Right. I checked now, and calligra-krita should indeed not be installed by default. It is only "suggested". Sorry. Something else must pull it in then. I have no idea what, but it doesn't matter really anyway. The two packages (calligra-krita and krita) should properly conflict, as they contain the same files, some at least. We need to add conflicts and/or provides/obsoletes to krita's specfile.

That does not seem right.
Why? Your output clearly shows that you have the KDE4 version of digikam installed (version 4.14.0). This comes with showfoto in the same package. The KF5 showfoto is packages separately in the package "showfoto" (version 4.80git, 4.80 means "5.0 beta" in KDE's versioning). So again, what happens when you try to switch digikam to the KF5 version (from KDE:Unstable:Extra)? There must be a reason why "zypper dup" didn't want to install that. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
