Are you saying a group of crashing daemons, totally non-functional critical component not working at all is NOT urgent ? See definition of your own documentation here: P1 - Urgent Use this priority for urgent issues Examples: * Blocker: Generally is a P1 * Critical: Nautilus crashing while opening a file for all x86_64 installations * Major: Fingerprint support authenticates regardless of the fingerprint swipes * Normal: Package management log does not get rotated (will get large fast) * Minor: SLED is misspelled in bootsplash -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

I can boot without any USB devices plugged in. I can also boot WITH USB devices plugged in, and they are "live" during boot, up to the GRUB screen, but they DIE before reaching the login screen. (eg: optical mouse with LED light, the light is on until just after GRUB). I've pressed "escape" after selecting the boot choice in GRUB, and it appears that USB dies during this initial book sequence. Sorry the text flies by too fast for me to catch anything from that screen. dmesg, et all shows the errors anyhow. anyhow, onto your questions: Yes I can boot without USB plugged in. At the login prompt, if I plug a device in, the logs show NOTHING the errors are already there (in dmesg/messages) so the errors show up before and without a USB device being plugged in. I had to go back to 11.1 and get work done. I might be able to dual-boot the system, or I might create an USB-key for booting 11.2 and we can collect info that way. hopefully with the other logs and info provided, you can see what's broken in 11.2 and what works in 11.1 and find the issue -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

I haven't installed anything non-default, so I don't know. but then, why would it change so much from 11.1 to 11.2 it doesn't seem to be the nvidia driver, it really looks like the kernel to me. I have a possible work around while others debate priorities on Kernel Problems for X_64. With the following I'm punting on you having an ASUS Motherboard if you have a Gigabyte board nothing will help you except the boot from install DVD as below....Sorry Firstly there is absolutely nothing wrong with your BIOS version - Lets get that right now! Go into BIOS Turn off the selection of an Over-clocking Profile. It will contain a default profile and there are normally 4 of them - most all Dynamic - This is the problem. You can, however freely use a permanent clock frequency - you can overclock if you wish until the CPU throws a whammy! Check the USB Version Selection in BIOS - I think it may be limited to only one version (specification) rather than both specs. That should do it, Totally ignore the rubbish in the start-up log - Its all crap but it will disappear if your turn default Cool N Quiet==Disabled. Last resort you can try is to leave the install DVD in and boot from it>Boot from Hard Disk>Desktop Theoretically the above line should be nonsense, but it does stop all these huge errors in the new Kernel. Email me personally if you still have problems - I have more tricks to grant stability. Suse.de will still be arguing about the priority of this bug well before anyone does anything to correct this. Argument over priorities are neither helpful nor constructive and have no place in bug reports - we settle personal opinions via less public high-school yard brawls. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Unfortunately I do NOT have a crappy ASUS board. I'll wait until something good comes along, MSI or gigabyte or something good (even Tyan! and thats saying something). in the meantime, I'll try your suggestion, boot of the dvd. I don't think it will work, but what the hell. also, the overclocking, I never went into those options so it's all factory default, but still, can't hurt to look at it. the WEIRD thing is, I have 11.1 on my system now, and it has the LATEST kernel, and it is WORKING. Has Novell/Suse learned nothing ? sheesh. btw Thanks to Scott for providing a number of work-around suggestions. Since "Bug creation date" 1 of the Workarounds did work and my PC is now usable. Whilst others have been wasting time arguing about priority another user actually did provide some help while the developers are still thinking about finding a solution novell/suse support sucks. I even had paid professional support back in 10.x days and called them and they wouldn't help me... sad. wish I could get a refund. too late now. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

This is definitely a kernel issue, not udev, probably related to power management. Please run the following command before you plug in any USB device: for A in `find /sys/bus/usb/devices/*/ -name "level"`; do echo "on" > $A; done It will disable runtime power management for all devices, including hubs. Then please plug in a USB device (other than an external hub). Please wait about 10 minutes and provide dmesg from the moment you issued the above command on. You can clear the message buffer with "dmesg -c" right before you give the above command (as root) -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
