This will usually happen after a crash but it can happen any time and I haven't tracked down what causes it to lose track of what mail it has already seen. I will attach a screenshot of the problem. I don't have console logs but if I can reproduce this when it first happens I'll submit more. I will submit console logs for startup when it doesn't see all the mail it should see. Trying to force it with a "Check Mail" or quiting and restarting doesn't seem to help (even after an evolution --force-shutdown). It won't be triggered until I receive a new message though for some reason. What Dave is seeing is: 1) You get a mail. 2) You mark it as read 3) Upon next folder switch, Evolution before syncing up the change that you have marked a message as read, gets the folder-list from server which still has Mailbox(1). I will file this as a seperate bug. What Dan Elder seeing is the case of Missing Mails. Everytime when you get a new mail in a folder, Evolution gets the uids of ALL the messages in the folder (where there is a new mail) and syncs up the items. So we will get rid of items deleted using other clients. What is happening in Dan's case is : Somehow the ALL list is returned NULL and hence Evolution blows up the entire cache. I will delete my cache and re-create it to force a redownload since it's only giving me my mail for the past week. After quiting and re-launching evolution though everything is gone again. The folder and preview pane shows no mail at all but the folder list pane at least shows the correct count of unread mail. Manually forcing a "Check Mail" doesn't do anything. I restarted evolution when I noticed that an appointment which had been sent to me in Groupwise was having problems. I could accept it just fine and it would show up on my calendar but when I would go back into my mail the appointment request would show up bold (new) like I had never seen it before.
