[Bug 1185232] something has gone seriously wrong: shim_init() - system does not boot anymore after installing today's updates
https://bugzilla.suse.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1185232 https://bugzilla.suse.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1185232#c39 --- Comment #39 from Gary Ching-Pang Lin <glin@suse.com> --- (In reply to Joe Levy from comment #38)
Booting fails, with these messages:
Could not create MokListRT - out of resources Could not create MokListXRT - out of resources something has gone seriously wrong: shim_init() ...
The "out of resources" errors is caused by the oversized blocklist in shim and tracked by bsc#1185261.
System powers off after that.
I was able to boot by first booting from my install DVD, and using the "Start Linux system" menu option.
The problem correlates with the installation of shim 15.4-lp152.4.8.1. I reverted to shim 15+git47-lp152.4.6.1, manually copied /usr/share/efi/x86_64/shim-opensuse.efi over /boot/efi/EFI/opensuse/shim.efi and am now able to boot.
(I lost Plymouth, and some openSUSE Grub graphics during this process. I have not bothered to restore those.)
