[Bug 987170] New: too strict permissions for /sbin/dhclient-script
http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=987170 Bug ID: 987170 Summary: too strict permissions for /sbin/dhclient-script Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Distribution Version: 13.2 Hardware: Other OS: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Network Assignee: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com Reporter: ptoscano@redhat.com QA Contact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- /sbin/dhclient-script has way too strict permissions: -rwxr-x--- 1 root root 24K Feb 19 10:46 /sbin/dhclient-script This means that users cannot read it, even if there does not seem to be anything special in it. This affects the networking setup in libguestfs, since supermin (helper tool used by libguestfs to create small VM appliances) fails to copy all the files of the "dhcp-client" package: supermin: open: /sbin/dhclient-script: Permission denied Thus when dhclient is run inside the VM setup by libguestfs, it fails to execute /sbin/dhclient-script, as it is missing. The solution is to simply make it 0755 (-rwxr-xr-w) as any other executable. As mentioned above, the strict permissions gain nothing really, and users can always use `zypper download dhcp-client` to download the package and inspect its content. This affects any openSUSE release, including Factory. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
