[Bug 536539] New: YaST Software Management - Version Tab does not show descriptive repo names
http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=536539 Summary: YaST Software Management - Version Tab does not show descriptive repo names Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.1 Version: Final Platform: 64bit OS/Version: openSUSE 11.1 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: YaST2 AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: smaug42@gmail.com QAContact: jsrain@novell.com Found By: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; en-US; rv:1.9.1.2) Gecko/20090730 SUSE/3.5.2-2.1 Firefox/3.5.2 Go to YaST > Software > Software Management. Select any one of the installed applications, and then click the Versions tab in the lower frame. The information for available versions includes a "from" part which names the repository that specific RPM version will come from. This repo name is not descriptive, and often does not match up with anything the user can match with in the Repository Management window. For example, it can show something cryptic like "repo_5", and no information shown in the Repository Manager corresponds to "repo_5" as shown in the Software Management window, Reproducible: Always Expected Results: The Version tab in the Software Management window should show a more descriptive repository name for the repository names (for example it could show the user defined name from the Repository Manager). -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

So if you'd had good aliases, you'd see nice strings. I'm not sure if it is possible to edit the aliases in 11.2 repository management, but it wasn't possible in 11.1. There should be displayed the same content as in the Repository list. Alias is a short name which is used by zypper (so users don't have to enter long names and escaping all shell characters...). And it seems to be fixed in 11.2M7. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
