https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=649954 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=649954#c0 Summary: /usr/lib/pm-utils/power.d/laptop-mode-tools has a major typo in it; breaks functionality Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.3 Version: Final Platform: i586 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.3 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Other AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: windows2linux@zoho.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; en-US; rv:1.9.2.12) Gecko/20101026 SUSE/3.6.12-1.1 Firefox/3.6.12 Laptop-mode-tools does not automatically toggle when a user plugs or unplugs the AC power cord from a laptop. This is because there is a typo in the included script located at: /usr/lib/pm-utils/power.d/laptop-mode-tools The follow two lines should be changed: laptop_mode start laptop_mode stop Instead of using "start" and "stop" laptop_mode now uses "auto" instead. Thus, both lines should read: laptop_mode auto This has fixed the issue for me. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Enable the laptop-mode service 2. Plug and unplug the laptop's AC power card Actual Results: Laptop-mode does not automatically enable or disable Expected Results: Laptop-mode should automatically toggle based on whether or not the AC power cord is plugged in. Applying the above changes to the file has fixed this issue for the time being. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Please also attach your /var/log/pm-powersave.log two times, after plugging the AC power in and after removing it. Thanks. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=649954 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=649954#c2 --- Comment #2 from Flan Suse <windows2linux@zoho.com> 2010-10-30 18:08:20 UTC --- I tried your above commands, and they did work. I realized that I had some custom scripts within /etc/pm/sleep.d/ and /etc/pm/power.d/ that were interfering with the pm-utils directories. I was having a problem with laptop-mode and suspend, and so followed a guide by using custom fixes within /etc/pm/. Sorry about the confusion, but I guess this does work after all. I still do get a warning about start and stop being deprecated in the latest version of laptop-mode-tools, but that's unrelated. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
