https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=415721 Summary: Error when browsing samba shares contining files and folders with name containing Swedish characters Product: openSUSE 11.0 Version: Final Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: KDE4 Applications AssignedTo: kde-maintainers@suse.de ReportedBy: 178155@glocalnet.net QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- This bug applies to Dolphin and Konqueror/KDE4 in KDE4.1 session: When browsing samba shares containing files and folders named with Swedish characters å, ä and ö I get the following error message: Filen finns inte: smb://edmini/musiksamling/Artister/Bj%C3%B6rn%20Afzelius "Filen finns inte" translated into English would be something like "The file does not exist". "Bj%C3%B6rn%20Afzelius" should be "Björn Afzelius". This is the first sub folder in alphabetical order containing a Swedish character. Furthermore when clicking the OK button in the error message, the folder displays only the subfolders without Swedish characters in their name. All "Swedish" folders with å,ä and ö in their name are "gone". Same shares are displayed correctly and without any error message if browsed with Konqueror/KDE3, even if Konqueror/KDE3 is started from inside a KDE4.1 session. Also, the same shares are mounted in my fstab with: //192.168.1.3/musiksamling /network/musiksamling cifs rw,iocharset=utf8,uid=1000,gid=100,user=myusername,password=mypassword. If I browse the mounted share /network/musiksamling/Artiser/ in Dolphin or Konqueror/KDE4 everything displays correctly without any errors. Additional information: My samba shares are situated on a NAS, LaCie S.A., Ethernet Disk mini, software version 1.1.2. For what its worth, a similar error message appears when browsing the same shares from Konqueror on my ASUS eeePC 900 running the original ASUS/Xandros distribution in Swedish. I don't know exactly what version of Konqueror they are using but I suppose it's a KDE3 version? I'm using OpenSuse 11.1, KDE 4.1.3, Dolphin 1.1.
