[Bug 614346] New: search engine is ineffective by default
http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=614346 http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=614346#c0 Summary: search engine is ineffective by default Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE.org Version: unspecified Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: Wiki AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: jw@novell.com QAContact: adrian@novell.com CC: hvogel@novell.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- searching in wiki.opensuse.org currently only searches the Main Namespaces, not the openSUSE Namespace, where most content is. As a workaround, after each failed search, one can manually add all the checkboxes for the other namespaces, and try again. this works. I also tried the search tab in my preferences, and added checked all namespaces there. this appears to have no effect. I suggest to at least add openSUSE to the default search settings. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

That's why in the default namespace we will only have the product presentation and other things useful for the casual reader. That's why the default search will search only main and Portal. The other thing is indeed a bug. Tom can you have a look? Individual search settings seem to get lost -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

This works now. Henne, I don not follow that logic. The power user would know how to tweak his settings, but we cannot assume that every casual user would know why the search engine fails to find pages that are obviously in the wiki. e.g. Search for 'wiki heading' -> you get the sandbox page. No hint, that much better answeres would be in the Help: namespace. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
