No idea, the failsafe session comes from X i think. Perhaps drivers or something are shutoff?
No, it's only a failsafe session (xterm only as desktop). No drivers are exchanged here. You're mixing it up with the failsafe boot entry, which uses X11 configuration from installation (usually fbdev). -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

In 1) those messages are harmless
Ok. Nevertheless I'd count them as (minor) bugs.
for 3) were you running compiz in the past?
Probably. I did not configure it actively nor did I make use of a compiz feature. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Note its linked to your home directory - you have probably a test Gilouche theme stored there that is quite old. The system one doesn't have this error.

Ok, then its probably not that. Not really sure there is anyway to proceed here. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

I never ever installed a test theme on my own. I think I acquired it together with a previous openSUSE release (10.x or 11.0 beta3?). The only solution seems to be to remove the Gnome dot directories in my home.
You would not have acquired it that way. We have tested themes this way before though, so I suspect something like that happened. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
