they are both in the same package.
That's the problem. I want to run ntpdate during the bootprocess, but don't want to have the ntpd running on the system, especially because it listens on _all_ interfaces.
do you think we should pack the ntpdate into an own (sub-)package?
Yes.
(-is this usefull?)
It is, at least until the ntpd listens only on 127.0.0.1 by default. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

if you do not want to have the deamon running disable it.
When I disable the daemon, I also disable the ntpdate run at boot time.
i can not see why this package should split?
To separate ntpdate from ntpd.
a sub package with only one file is very ugly.
An init script for the ntpdate package would be nice too. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
