[Bug 749169] New: NetworkManager-kde4 and WPA Enterprise-TTLS
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=749169 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=749169#c0 Summary: NetworkManager-kde4 and WPA Enterprise-TTLS Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 12.1 Version: Final Platform: 64bit OS/Version: openSUSE 12.1 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Network AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: b_marley@gmx.de QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:10.0.2) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/10.0.2 Hi, I tried to enter the wireless network of University of Leipzig today which uses the following settings: WPA Enterprise, authentication TTLS, inner authentication PAP. I cannot select TTLS, so no way to get into the network with networkmanager-kde4. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: To reproduce (sorry for the German translation:) click on "manage connections" tab "wireless" button "Add - wireless" Tab "wireless security", select WPA-Enterprise and try to change authentification to TTLS. The default is TLS, but you also won't be able to switch back once you changed that. Actual Results: This doesn't work because adding a new network with WPA Enterprise standard only lets me choose PEAP in the kcm. Expected Results: well, letting me select TTLS would have been nice. reproduced on two machines, it is not needed to actually be near that network at all. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

you can use nm-applet from gnome als under KDE
Thats what I did in the end. Iirc I hit a different error with the nm-applet: when I tried to directly select the network (802.1X) and make the settings it refused to let me select WPA-Enterprise but only showed me WPA-Personal and WEP*. Since I cannot confirm that until I am back near that network I didn't open a bug report. When starting with a new connection from nm-applet I can confirm that I can do all the settings. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

But using gnome nm-applet, it works fine. And there is not such problem as in comment #2, I'm able to select TTLS directly. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

However openSUSE 12.1 is no longer supported and KDE4 NetworkManager changed drastically in the meantime. Therefor I close this report. Feel free to reopen if you can reproduce it with a more recent version. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
