After logout from the first Gnome session, login to GDM won't work again. The console outputs several kernel error messages.
You're certainly planning on attaching the kernel log, so we can look at those messages? We will also need to see the hypervisor log (obtained with "loglvl=all guest_loglvl=all"). Is this known to be a regression over earlier kernels? Is this machine dependent (in which case you'll want to also provide machine details)? Are there other anomalies on that system? Hanssen <terje@nordland-teknikk.no> 2010-11-08 21:27:52 UTC --- I just tested also booting Xen-openSUSE 11.3 x86_64 kernel 2.6.34.7-0.5 and Gnome 2.30. Several logins and logouts works fine there. The native desktop kernel 2.6.36 and Gnome 2.32 (currently 11.4 Milestone 3) also works fine regarding this. (The only thing to report from this latest update, is that the new disk icon on the Gnome panel reports the disk is failing due to many bad sectors) Sorry, could you be more specific about how to use the command to obtain the hypervisor log? Sorry, could you be more specific about how to use the command to obtain the hypervisor log?
"xm dmesg" (provided the box doesn't hang as a whole). Between 2.6.34.7-0.5 and 2.6.36-18.1, did you run any other kernel versions (where you would know when the regression appeared)? Did you try updating kernel and hypervisor independently (or did you perhaps run the 11.3 kernel on the Factory hypervisor)? I don't remember if I had the xen-11.3 kernel installed before this upgrade on this partition. This is my first test of xen on 11.4 (thinking on the upcoming openSUSE Invis server). Currently I have no other test machine available. One other this worth trying would be to add "mem=4G" to the Xen command line. And, btw, according to the boot.msg you provided the nouveau driver is not part of your initrd, so the disabling process will be relatively simple.
