[Bug 214335] New: Black screen after VT switch
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=214335 Summary: Black screen after VT switch Product: openSUSE 10.2 Version: Alpha 5 plus Platform: x86 OS/Version: OES - Linux Status: NEW Severity: Critical Priority: P5 - None Component: Xgl AssignedTo: dreveman@novell.com ReportedBy: mick@wever.org QAContact: bperry@novell.com My laptop automatically switchs to vt1 when init services fail (changing power levels changes runlevels and some services may fail), switching manually back to vt7 always leaves a black screen. I must kill xgl and all applications i have running to restore xgl. Linux Gentoo 2.6.18-suspend2 ati-drivers-8.29.6 (hw: Radeon Mobility X600) mesa-6.5.1-r1 Xgl-0.0.1_pre20060928 compiz-0.2.0 -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

I'll remember to report my bugs as suse for now on :-) /Likely/ an ati bug. In such a hurry to close issues is hardly levering the opensource community to improve the products quality. Such hurry doesn't exactly win the community over either. So if i leave running a opengl application on my desktop, then switch to VT1 and back to VT7, and the opengl application is still running fine, will this prove your theory of it being a ATI bug wrong? (I'm reopening because I suspect I won't get an answer otherwise.) -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=214335 jpr@novell.com changed: What |Removed |Added ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Status|REOPENED |RESOLVED Resolution| |INVALID ------- Comment #7 from jpr@novell.com 2006-10-26 07:59 MST ------- The difference between suse and gentoo is that we don't know exactly what code and configurations gentoo has setup. Gentoo has a bugzilla at http://bugs.gentoo.org/ and they can push it upstream to the compiz bugzilla at https://bugs.freedesktop.org/ (product is xorg, component is apps/compiz). This is described at http://freedesktop.org/wiki/Software_2fCompiz . I did also CC the people who might be able to comment if it is a known ATI issue (note we have not officially validate 8.29.6 for use with xgl yet either so it is unsupported in that sense.). -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
