The whole video issue is getting very shaky recently. So when e.g. Kaffeine began to flicker (which was now and then, before the recent upgrade, now it substantially broken), during the flicker vidcutter would experience problems as well. Which then stopped when kaffeine was shot down. But now it is simply not possible to open any file and to see even one frame. It is just all a tetris like image. So I doubt that this is directly vidcutter, but something vidcutter and kaffeine and vlc do rely on. Handbrake (from Packman) was fixed instead.
