[Bug 678756] New: Acpi Triggers are configured incorrectly.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=678756 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=678756#c0 Summary: Acpi Triggers are configured incorrectly. Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.4 Version: Final Platform: i686 OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel AssignedTo: kernel-maintainers@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: wallacyf@gmail.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux i686; rv:2.0b12) Gecko/20110222 Firefox/4.0b12 Hello, since version 3.11 I'm having problem with the acpi thermal zone, which still shuts down my computer at boot. The triggers are set to the maximum temperature of 60° instead of 70° (according to the manual processor), and here is how hot it is usually between 60-68 º (yes almost maximum). I would like to fix the triggers, but all my attempts were a failure, ffirst because I can only use the system with acpi = off, making it impossible to reconfigure acpi, and when I tried to freeze the processor to use the echo command to enable the new triggers realizes that they are read only. I tried using the editor / etc / sysconfig but nothing so far. The worst is that the system does not shut down automatically, have to push the button off. Up to version 11.2 I had no such problem. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: Simply turn on the system. Actual Results: Do not turn off, and I can not use ACPI. Expected Results: At least turn off the computer without manually. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

realizes that they are read only. They can be changed via boot param, try: thermal.crt=75
The worst is that the system does not shut down automatically I've heard about this one and similar reports already, for example compare with bug #661979.

thermal.crt = 75 works, the system boots with acpi enabled (but you can not view the folder /proc/acpi/thermal_zone, which is not important to me in case) In version 11.2 did not work, I am happy that this time it worked.

Still not turn off. I tried the failsafe mode and neither worked. Two problems, one was resolved. Very good. Thanks. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

but you can not view the folder /proc/acpi/thermal_zone /proc/acpi vanishes more and more, you find similar info in /sys/devices/virtual/thermal.
I close this one "Upstream", sounds as if the thermal.crt= is known and needed. Please follow up the other bug for the other issue. Mixing up two things in one bug is a bad idea. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
