[Bug 286694] New: KsystemLog - LCurrent Limitations and Enhancements
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=286694 Summary: KsystemLog - LCurrent Limitations and Enhancements Product: openSUSE 10.2 Version: Final Platform: i386 OS/Version: openSUSE 10.2 Status: NEW Severity: Enhancement Priority: P5 - None Component: KDE AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: scocoo@tpg.com.au QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: Customer Ksystemlog is a very valuable tool for watching either static or changes of a variety of logs. The problem is the length of the message field. Watching the following logs; the message field runs out of space despite its length 1. Firewall 2. Systemlog 3. Samba 4. Network Manager The current number of characters to be read should remain, however despite increasing the number the field length of the message field is fixed during real-time operation and still inadequate in the above as 2 message fields ARE required. Recommend that the message field occupy 2 x wrappable lines, omitting the other associated Date, Host name, Process etc. Other enhancements could include 1. Same colourisation of duplication of information lines where parsing X=Y lines in the message field only 2. Recommend file chaser interval be selectable with a range say every 0.5 seconds to 5 minutes for high, intermediate and low log changes. 3. Enable manual changes in field widths remain whilst in read-time 4. Permit permit deletion of a certain field and save when log closes 5. Permit restore to default field per log of previous deletion or hide of field 6. Ability to copy from 1 to many individual to fields - currently you can only copy a whole line, to permit paste import into OOO calc - I understand you can currently select all and import sheet into calc, however calc has difficulties with field delimiters which are not either TAB, CR CR+FF etc, hence the issue with importing only certain fields. Ksystemlog is being used more and more see http://en.opensuse.org/SDB:Syslog_server#Objective written by myself regards Scott -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
