[Bug 255665] New: sound issues: alsa instable, high frequent noise
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=255665 Summary: sound issues: alsa instable, high frequent noise Product: openSUSE 10.2 Version: Final Platform: 64bit OS/Version: SuSE Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Sound AssignedTo: tiwai@novell.com ReportedBy: schunk.michael@googlemail.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Hy, aftzer my installation of opensuse 10.2 I encountered the following issues: #1 sound unstable when changening sound parameters via kmix sound disappears. Restarting the sound system with /etc/rc.d/alsasound restart, but sometimes the settings are gone #2 high frequent noise when playing sound when booting opensuse (cold start, computer was off for some hours) each sound that comes out of the speaker is underlayed by a high frequent noise. REstarting the sound system /etc/rc.d/alsasound restart does not help. Workoround: boot any other operating system (win xp, ubuntu linux, knoppix). In these OS, sound works fine and after booting one of those and then rebooting opensuse, the high frequent noise has gone (but sound is played only using the right speaker until I do some changes with kmix and restart alsasound. I have two opensuse installations on this pc, on test instance installed out of the box without additional updates, problems occur on both. system is a selfmade PC: athlon xp2 3800+. 2 GB RAM, asusm2npv-vm with nvidia GeForce 6150 GPU, NVIDIA nForce 430 MCP * Problem occur only with opensuse, not with ubuntu , win xp or knoppix * Any help is appreciated.
