[Bug 479380] New: Facility to minimize yast software installer to system tray while packages are being installed
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=479380 Summary: Facility to minimize yast software installer to system tray while packages are being installed Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.2 Version: Factory Platform: i686 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.1 Status: NEW Severity: Enhancement Priority: P5 - None Component: YaST2 AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: ruchir.brahmbhatt@ecosmob.com QAContact: jsrain@novell.com Found By: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9.0.6) Gecko/2009012700 SUSE/3.0.6-0.1.2 Firefox/3.0.6 I think it would be nice if YAST2 provides facility to minimize to system tray. This will be useful specially when packages are being installed/updated/deleted. It'll stay in system tray showing progress summary in tooltip like windows update. These applets are desktop-specific (and cannot run in _any_ desktop environment) Minimizing the window to systray on minimize would IMO cause more confusion and also would be desktop-specific. To hide it from the desktop, minimizing to the task bar is IMO sufficient. Having the update applet, I don't think it is worth the effort. Feel free to reopen this bug if I missed something. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

In order to keep up with kde4 factory updates, I need to update from yast installer. Also update applet doesn't show detailed status like yast2 installer. But yes it makes sense to fix update applet to show all upgrades instead of making yast2 minimize to tray. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
