https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=694699 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=694699#c0 Summary: Bonjour / mDNS does not work / does not find hostname of network device. Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.2 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: Basesystem AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: towo@computer.org QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64) AppleWebKit/534.24 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/11.0.696.65 Safari/534.24 With the standard openSUSE installation, the avahi system is installed. However, there is no avahi process to be seen. Consequently (?), mDNS recognition of network devices does not work. Configuration to enable this service could not be found in YaST or anywhere else. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Attach a NAS server to local network. 2. Verify: Windows (on dual-boot system) finds the device by its Bonjour-published hostname 3. openSUSE does not find the hostname. (ping/mount by IP address or by host name entered to /etc/hosts works) Expected Results: should work out-of-the-box -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

You can disable/enable in 'yast runlevel' when boot the system. When it's running, you also need to open the port in Firewall Or just stop the Firewall. Please check these.
