So if I understood correctly the problem is hang in Firefox/Opera when using Java applets?
Then I recommend to remove java-1_6_0-openjdk and install java-1_6_0-sun (you'd need to have non-free repository enabled, or use Java:sun:Factory build service project). Openjdk web plugin is not mature.
Does it help?
That's right, the problem is hang in Firefox/Opera when using Java applets, but it was using the java-1_6_0-sun and java-1_6_0-sun-plugin.Thanks your help! -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

I tryed the NetStatictics applet [1], but worked well. Do you have URL of the one causing the hang?
Can you post the content of about:plugins in Firefox (the java plugin part is enough), rpm -q java-1_6_0-sun-plugin and /usr/sbin/update-alternatives --display javaplugin. The last useful thing should be run firefox -g from command line and post me the output.

No able to reproduce - I tried to increase the period up to 100 and still did not get any hang/crash.
Wolfgang: do you have any hint how to discover what should be wrong? Like firefox -d gdb, or enable core dumps?

I don't think epiphany problem is related - it uses a different rendering engine - webkit, so please move the epiphany problem to another bug. Maintainer of epiphany is gnome-maintainers@suse.de (and in buildservice is it maw@pobox.com, so you can add him to CC). About firefox - sorry, I missed to point you to documentation. Please follow the instructions on http://en.opensuse.org/Bugs:mozilla - eg. install all required debuginfo packages, type run in gdb, crash the firefox and paste the output of bt. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Why does it say that program exited normally? What did you do in the end (during the hang)? I would expect that if everything hangs you can go to the terminal, hit Ctrl-C, get a prompt in gdb where you can type thread apply all bt bt This should give you a long list with all firefox threads. Wolfgang, what do you think about a back trace in comment#26? It contains some D-BUS related think, but not sure why is the SIGPIPE generated on socket communication.
I have no idea on the back trace. I used the Safari on windows , firefox and Epiphany on Ubuntu10.04 to open the java website , they all work fine. This problem is still present in 11.4 M4. Many Java applets simply do not work. This is easly demonstrated by visiting Sun's demo applets page here: http://java.sun.com/applets/jdk/1.4/
Using SuSE 11.2 with the official Sun Java plugin, all of these run fine. When visiting using SuSE 11.4M4 with the default OpenJDK plugin, the ArcTest and BarChart fail to run.
The 11.4M5 - no problem with ArcTest neither BarChart. Can you rerun Firefox as ICEDTEAPLUGIN_DEBUG=true firefox
Additionally, on clicking on the link above, a new unclose-able window appears labelled "Java Embedded Frame".
