[Bug 468395] New: Missing package dependecies for Octave
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=468395 Summary: Missing package dependecies for Octave Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.1 Version: Final Platform: All OS/Version: All Status: NEW Severity: Minor Priority: P5 - None Component: Other AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: johanp@aditus.nu QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; Konqueror/4.1; Linux) KHTML/4.1.3 (like Gecko) SUSE The Octave RPM package is arguable missing some key dependencies. In order to really work with octave, for example adding standard octave toolboxes the following packages are needed. This means that all serious users will always have to manually install these packages them self so this should really be done while installing Octave directly. The following packages should be added as needed requisites so that they are automatically installed lapack fftw3 fftw3-devel fftw3-threads fftw3-threads-devel blas hdf5 hdf5-devel octave-devel Perhaps controversial, is the fact that a real Octave installation will also require a minimal gcc environment in order to install toolboxes since they often require a small bit of interface code to be compiled. So in the end there should also be a dependency on gcc make Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Install Octave 2. Try to install some standard toolboxes and there will be missing libraries -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
