This is a 11.4 M2 system straight of the NET. CD openSuSE-NET-i586-Build-0837.iso ~> rpm -qa | grep gpm gpm-devel-1.20.6-462.2.i586 <- openSuSE's RPM-devel gpm-1.20.6-114v2.i686 <-My version that works If I gave you the wrong version - sorry! Please note that I use a console more than Xwindows. So to solve the problem I have installed from source gpm-1.20 and things work correctly. This problem seems to go back to 11.4 or 11.4M1 -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

The current subject of this bug is "openSuSE's version of cups for 11.4 fails". I wonder if it should probably be "openSuSE's version of gpm for 11.4 fails" but I am not sure if you might mean whatever else? -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

It is 11.4 M2 gpm that failed until I replaced it. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

It turns out to be a i586 openSuSE problem with a defective binary gpm, next the permissions on /dev/input/mice or mouse0 is to tight (which are set by udev), then mouse0 and mice in /etc/sysconfig/mouse has both variable set as mice, and lastly the start script (echo $GPM_PARM} seems to have a problem with its variables. I have a friend in England running 11.4 on a x86-64 machine without any problems. It appears openSuSE is overlooked many problem on a i586/686 machine. His gpm mouse works but he has a /etc/udev/rules.d/50* which this machine lacks from a fresh load from the NET of 11.4 M6. I tried to change permissions at boot time in permissions.local with no luck after a reboot. This is a Athlon-XP machine with NVidia chips everywhere on 11.3 it all worked. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
