[Bug 761976] New: Kmail fails to send encrypted email when using an RSA 4096/4096 key
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=761976 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=761976#c0 Summary: Kmail fails to send encrypted email when using an RSA 4096/4096 key Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 12.1 Version: Final Platform: i586 OS/Version: openSUSE 12.1 Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: KDE4 Applications AssignedTo: kde-maintainers@suse.de ReportedBy: stakanov@freenet.de QAContact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux i686; rv:12.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/12.0 If you select encryption with RSA in expert mode you find that the encryption is set to RSA 4096/4096 as default (selection 1). A good choice. Once you create your key everything seems fine in KGPG, GPG and even Kmail. You select the key as trustworthy, primary key for encryption and it is signed correctly in the encryption preferences of your personality. When you use Kde-Kmail as of package 4.8.2 (stable repo) 32bit this was completely broken. the program would ask to join over and over a new personality, then did not send. Now I am trying to use the latest stabel package of KDE 4.8.3 (that is release 503), Kmail allow now to send mail signed with RSA 4096 but refuses again to send encrypted email with a popup window: "general error" (the machine in question has a German UI so "allgemeiner Fehler". I tried to start for the terminal, so this gives the following output during the error. kmail QDBusConnection: session D-Bus connection created before QCoreApplication. Application may misbehave. I am using regularly encrypted email and it would be nice to have it working like before, safe, sound, with working preferences from the address book and possibility to use the highest available encryption level proposed. I am all open for advices on how to give you more info on the error but currently I do not know how. Feel free to "coach" a bit to get more info on what happens. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.open Kmail or Kontakt (makes no difference) 2.create a mail to a known and trusted personality in you address-book 3.use encryption and signature selecting a RSA 4096/4096 signature (correctly set up as default signature and unlimited trust, in this case with unlimited expiration date. Actual Results: If you do ONLY sign the mail, it goes off now. Works. If you sign AND encrypt the sending fails with "allgemeiner Fehler" - twice for signature and encryption If you ONLY encrypt you get "allgemeiner Fehler - general Error" and the sending fails (one pop up only) Expected Results: Well, guess, the email should be signed and encrypted correctly with Kmail (as standalone or embedded in Kontakt) using a 4096/4096 RSA encryption (especially if it has been generated on the very same system). This is true also for: Kmail version 4.4 in a 4.7 updated 11.4 64 bit openSUSE machine with 11.4 version on it. Very same error, only that also the signature fails, not only encryption. So 4096/4096 RSA signature support seems to be broken? -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
