So I suspect rather something in PulseAudio side. In anyway, could you try the following? - Fresh boot, confirm no sound. - Test the sound via pasuspender -- aplay -Dsysdefault somefile.wav Does it work? If not, try to mute/unmute the mixer via amixer -c0 set Master mute amixer -c0 set Master unmute Also, another thing to try is to pass snd-hda-intel.power_save=0 boot option.
