[Bug 512605] New: Installation of opensuse 11.2 fails to write bootrecord in case of ESB2 and dmraid (ddf1)
http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=512605 Summary: Installation of opensuse 11.2 fails to write bootrecord in case of ESB2 and dmraid (ddf1) Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.2 Version: Milestone 2 Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Installation AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: Winfrid.Tschiedel@ts.fujitsu.com QAContact: jsrain@novell.com Found By: --- Created an attachment (id=297819) --> (http://bugzilla.novell.com/attachment.cgi?id=297819) YaST2 Installion logs User-Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 7.0; Windows NT 5.1; Tablet PC 1.7; .NET CLR 1.0.3705; .NET CLR 1.1.4322; .NET CLR 2.0.50727; .NET CLR 3.0.04506.648; .NET CLR 3.5.21022; MS-RTC LM 8; InfoPath.2) I tried to install openSUSE 11.2 on a Fujitsu Primergy rx200s4 on a SATA RAID ( 1 disk RAID0 ) - installation works except no bootrecord can be written. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Have a system with ESB2 / ICHXR and LSI firmware 2. Install openSUSE 11.2 on a SATA RAID Actual Results: There is no boot record written : Error 22: No such partition Expected Results: Sucessful installation I was able to bypass the problem with the missing bootrecord, but afterwards the kernel was not able to access the root partition ( /dev/mapper/ddf1_......part4 ). Ignoring that the system should have a RAID0 the system could be started with root=/dev/sda4 . I did similar tests with other SATA RAID ( Promise pdc ; Intel Matrix Storage Manager isw ) - these tests were successful. fedora 11 was able to write the bootrecord, but also in their case the system came up without dmraid. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
